I was young, single, in good shape, working at an lumber mill at night with the millwright, in Oregon. I'd been called handsome by some, lived playing sports with friend's. Liked to get high on pot. Played guitar enough to recognize the tune. Had a yearn to travel without any means.
Hitchhiker a lot even though I had a car.
Grabbed my backpack and some travelers checks and took off. Quit the job and parked my car at a friends.. Put out my thumb and left. Thinking I would go to Peru. Stopped in southern Oregon for a night at friends then down to the bay area at more friends.
Then over to the coast and down to LA. Over to Phoenix to see friends and relatives before heading to Nogales and catching a train to Guadalajara.
Met some people on the train who asked me if I needed a place to stay there. Took them up on it and stayed a couple nights. They were 4 Students from NYC.
They told me of a little village in the Pacific coast that caught my ear. A small village, just dirt roads several hundred people and a nice beach.
I decided to go there. It was Christmas time and, I never experienced it in Mexico.I took a bus there. At first it seemed kinda lost in the past.
Lots of grass roof places. Found a room and walked around the village. People were real friendly and saying hello and such. After a night where I was I changed places to a heads roof places with short walls just above head high in the courtyard there were open air showers.
And pit toilets. Being such a small town word about me must have traveled fast. I got invited into many homes for meals and drinks. I always left some money for these people, even though they said no.
A young woman ran the place I was Staying and asked me the second day if there was anything I needed to be more comfortable? At the time I couldn't think of anything. The next day I came out of my room.
Right at the showers and she was in one. I needed one so I say on a bench to wait my turn.
She was a nice looking lady. I tried not to
stare but, she was quite a site. Then I heard her say, "see anything you like?" I replied that yes I see a lot that I like. To be continued soon.
